How long has it been
Since I've felt so deeply?
Since I've truly tasted of
Life's sweet pleasures?
Reluctantly
I step out to see that the sky is azure blue
And the effortless clouds still hang in their rightful places.
The grass is greener, the flowers brighter,
And yet my soul
Is color-less.
Putting one foot before the other
My journey's forced
And become an unwanted labor.
And these eyes blinded
One day I will slowly emerge
from the darkened places
Of this self-imposed cocoon.
I will brightly step into the morn of An eternal, hopeful day.
And I'll drink in the air
Of fragrant joy.
And then remember...
I have wings!
"THE ADVERSITIES OF LIFE MAY CHALLENGE THE BEST OF US.
AND MAKING IT DOWN LIFE'S ROUGH ROAD ON YOUR OWN, MAY BRING YOU
SATISFACTION AND ACCOMPLISHMENT.
BUT, SHARING THE JOURNEY WITH A FRIEND MAY HELP US TO CATCH GLIMPSES OF
THE BEAUTIFUL SCENERY BY THE WAYSIDE, AS WE TRAVEL ON TOWARDS
OUR FINAL DESTINATION.
WHEREAS, BEFORE WE VIEWED THE WORLD THROUGH THEIR EYES ... WE MAY ONLY
HAVE SEEN THE ROAD AHEAD, AND FOCUSED ONLY UPON ...
JUST GETTING THERE."
