Grandpa, A Child's Words

Grandpa, can you help me..... lift me up on to your knee;
Can you fix my truck and do up my coat and where is heaven..... can you see?

I am little now for only a little while but I hope to grow up soon;
Will I learn to drive a car or truck and will I be as smart as you?

And why do birds fly so high in the sky; can they see us down here below?
Can I walk with you for a little while, in case you need a hand to hold?

And when winter comes, what I really need, Is help to fix my sled;
Grandpa ,where are we going now; when it's dark, will you tuck me in bed?

When I grow up, I pray God makes me strong and smart like you;
But will I know the answers to all I ask and will you always be there, too?

When I'm grown, please be there to catch me if I fall 'cause you know;
It's a longer way from way up there, than from way down here below.

Can you help me; I'm so tired. Would you lift me up and carry me along;
Did I tell you how much I love you and say "Thank you for being so strong"?

I may fall asleep but just for awhile..... and then when I awake;
I'll carry you, Grandpa, if you're really tired....
BUT SMALLER STEPS I'LL HAVE TO TAKE.
