Halted

Worn and weather-beaten
They sat.
Stark in contrast
To the red and blue and white
With shiny gold dangling
That sat beside them.
A colorful reminder
That seemed no comfort
To hearts left bleeding
Behind.
Oh, that we could walk
Where they walked,
For just a moment.
One moment more.
To have been so close to
That nearest dearest one
Now gone.
A whisper carried on the wind,
A grain of sand blown on
Is what it seems to me.
The life of a solitary soldier.
image
But I collect grains of sand.
I gather whispers,
Into loving colors
And paint them
Into words upon a page.
That they won't be forgotten.
That their lives laid down and taken
Continue on.
Do not soon forget the mighty fallen.
Do not tread so lightly upon freedom's
Hard-earned ground.
For they gave ALL,
That everyone should have... some.
And today,
More than ever...
We remember every ONE.

God Bless The Memories of each brave soldier gone.
Remember those that were lost, and all that they gave.
All that they endured. And remember, it was for every one
Of us.
And God Bless those serving still, for whom every day
Should be a Veteran's Day. To set aside and pray.
There is another who laid His life down on our behalf.
His name is Jesus.
Place His well-worn sandals beside the worn out dust covered
Boots, and remember that those that have gone on now rest in good company.
Company J, of the 7th Battalion of Fort Glory, forever.

God Bless all our fighting men and women.
And please bring those still away safely home.
Amen
