Day Prayer

I ask you not for worldly goods
nor that I have my own way.
But only that you keep me, Lord
in strength just for today.
For I know not what tomorrow holds,
and can be easily filled with fear.
I can not walk another mile
lest you meet me here.
Then take my hand and hold on tight,
as we walk this uncertain road.
I so need now, to feel your strong lead
with this unsure footing and burdensome load.
I know that you'll help carry
all that I must bear.
You've carried the weight of the entire world,
when the world did not even care.
Take me away from this troublesome place,
which incessantly threatens me.
That I can continue to walk the path
and notice the things you want me to see.
I can't possibly continue on
unless I know you're there.
So draw me in and hold me fast to you
upon this road of life we share.
